ALLENTOWN, PA — A local acoustic singer-songwriter, Jeni Hackett, has been crowned ABE Idol 2024 after a week of public voting, officially announced today via Facebook.
The competition, hosted by Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE), culminated in Hackett’s victory over fellow finalists Lucy Moore and Joey Lannigan, securing her the grand prize of two round-trip tickets to Nashville and a performance slot at Bethlehem’s Oktoberfest.
The competition, open to Pennsylvania and New Jersey residents, began with submissions in early August.
Five finalists, selected by a panel of judges, were invited to perform live at the Great Allentown Fair on August 29.
The public could vote online between August 31 and September 6, ultimately deciding Hackett’s win.
Hackett’s folk-inspired sound, blending original compositions with a wide range of covers, resonated with audiences throughout the competition.
She is no stranger to performing, having graced stages at local and regional venues like Blue Mountain Resort, Dorney Park, and Wind Creek Casino.
In addition to the Nashville trip, Hackett will perform at SteelStacks’ Oktoberfest on October 4, 2024, from 4 to 5 p.m., and ABE will feature her music in its “Music in the Airport” rotation.
