ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Allentown Police Department has opened a hiring round for new officers, offering a $5,000 signing bonus amid ongoing internal issues involving current and former officers facing sex crime charges.

Former officer Jason Krasley and current Sergeant Evan Weaver were arrested and charged in January 2025 with multiple serious offenses.

Krasley faces charges including kidnapping, involuntary sexual intercourse, and intimidation of a witness, while Weaver has been charged with involuntary sexual servitude, rape, and sexual assault.

Weaver has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

In a separate development this month, Krasley received additional charges on March 27 related to alleged incidents between 2012 and 2018, including rape, sexual assault, criminal solicitation, official oppression, and patronizing prostitutes.

Applications for new officers are being accepted through May 2, with physical agility tests scheduled for June 7 at the Allentown Police Academy, followed by written exams on June 8.
