ALLENTOWN, PA — Multiple pools around Allentown are waiving admissions fees this week, from Tuesday, June 18th, until Friday, June 21st, to support the community during our area’s first heat wave of 2024.
The pools at the following locations are free to residents & pass holders during regular business hours (noon to 7 pm) during the above dates.
- Irving Pool – 731 N. Irving St.
- Cedar Beach Pool – 101 N. Ott St.
- Mack Pool – 1901 Mack Blvd.
The City of Allentown announced a heat advisory in a release last week and provided a trove of community resources to ensure public safety and relief during the scorching weather.
In addition to pools, the city has designated cooling stations at Roosevelt, Jordan, and Fountain parks from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm.
Spray parks will be open from 11 am to 8 pm daily and are free of charge to use.
All people & elderly adults who need air-conditioned shelter can visit the following public buildings for relief.
- Allentown Public Library 1210 Hamilton St 8 am-8 pm
- Cumberland Gardens Community Room 501 E Cumberland St 3:30–7 pm (subject to change)
- Lehigh Valley Active Life 1633 Elm St 8:30 am-4:30 pm (please enter through the doors facing the parking lot)
- PPL Center Lobby 701 Hamilton St (enter through the Main WFMZ Gate sliding doors) 10 am-5 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
The city advises to stay hydrated, near air-conditioning & avoid the outdoors if possible. Extreme heat can be dangerous to anyone of any age, including pets.
