BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A new season of fresh produce and climate-friendly choices kicked off Tuesday as the Bethlehem Health Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and farm stand opened for the 2025 season.
The Farm Stand, located at the Bethlehem Health Bureau at 10 E. Church St., runs every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through Oct. 28 as part of a 17-week partnership with Bleiler’s Produce Patch.
The initiative offers two ways for residents to access local, non-GMO fruits and vegetables while reducing the city’s carbon footprint.
The CSA program provides pre-purchased weekly shares of seasonal produce — with full shares available for $500 per season and half shares for $300 per season — delivering fresh, hand-picked bounty straight from the farm to participants’ tables.
The concurrent Farm Stand sells fresh, local produce to community members on a weekly basis.
The CSA and Farm Stand are key components of the Bethlehem Climate Action Plan. By supporting local farms, residents can help reduce food miles — the distance food travels from farm to plate — cutting down on fuel use, packaging waste and greenhouse gas emissions tied to long-distance transport and storage.
“Enjoy 17 weeks of fresh, naturally grown, non-GMO produce from Bleiler’s Produce Patch,” city officials said in a statement. “Plus, grab extra goodies at their weekly Farm Stand. It’s a win-win for our plates and our planet.”
The Farm Stand accepts various forms of payment, including SNAP benefits. Both the CSA shares and Farm Stand purchases connect residents to the land while supporting local food systems and seasonal eating.
Community members can register for the CSA here.
