BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The School Sisters of St. Francis will host a fall food drive on October 18th to benefit two local organizations serving vulnerable populations in the Lehigh Valley.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Monocacy Manor, 395 Bridle Path Road, with drive-through drop-off available at the garage located near the White House on the property.

Donations will support food pantries at Saints Simon and Jude Parish and Cay Galgon Life House, both on Broad Street in Bethlehem.

Saints Simon and Jude, founded in 1917 as Bethlehem’s first territorial Catholic parish, serves the west side community and operates a food pantry for families in need. The parish is located at 730 W. Broad St.

Cay Galgon Life House, at 714 W. Broad St., focuses on preparing pregnant women and mothers for self-reliance through safe housing, resources and support services.

The sisters are accepting non-perishable food items, including canned goods, boxed meals, pasta, cereals, coffee, baby food, and canned meats.

Essential non-food items such as soap, cleaning supplies, diapers, personal hygiene products, pet food, and paper goods are also needed. These household items cannot be purchased with food stamps, organizers noted.

Monetary donations and grocery store gift cards will be accepted.

The School Sisters of St. Francis U.S. Province was established in Pittsburgh in 1913. The religious community serves in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Italy, with sisters at Monocacy Manor providing community service and operating St. Francis Center for Renewal on the 55-acre property along Monocacy Creek.
