UPPER MILFORD TWP., Pa. — The death of a 1½-year-old boy who was struck by a vehicle in Upper Milford Township last week has been ruled an accident, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
Buglio said in an updated report Monday that an autopsy determined the toddler died of blunt force head trauma. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the 5300 block of Bachman Road. The child was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. in the trauma bay at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, Buglio said.
The Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville are investigating the incident along with the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center.
Buglio said the child’s identity will not be released out of respect for the family.
“On behalf of myself and the entire staff of the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the child’s family,” Buglio said in the statement. “Our thoughts are with them during this time of unimaginable grief.”
