Island Time plays the night away at Lockridge Park
MACUNGIE, Pa. — Local cover band Island Time performed at Lower Macungie Township’s Lockridge Park Bandshell from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13.
According to Lower Macungie Township’s website, the concert was one of its many free summer events.
Island Time played classics such as Juice Newton’s “Queen of Hearts” and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” with violinist Tyler Kennedy of Swamp Guard making a guest appearance.
According to their Facebook page, the Hills is one of their favorite places.
Jim Dunleavy, the lead singer and acoustic guitarist, explained why he and the other members like playing there.

“We’re from around this area,” said lead singer and acoustic guitarist Jim Dunleavy. “This sets up nice for an outdoor concert. It’s got that nice kind of feel for an outdoor show.”
Dunleavy also described the personal history that Kennedy and Island Time share.
“We know Tyler because he plays in a band with my son, Swamp Guard,” Jim Dunleavy said. “They’ve been playing together since they were lifeguards down in Lower Macungie, back when they were in high school. So we got to know Tyler. So he’s pinched hit several times. We typically have a keyboard player for a show this big, but he’s out of town, and we wanted to get a little more horsepower.”
Other Island Time members were very excited for the event.
Conguero Jack Dunleavy added, “We’ve been doing this for 23 years. But my favorite days of the year are gig days because I get to be with a lot of my favorite people.”
Island Time returns to MusikFest on Aug. 6 and will play Upper Saucon Township’s summer concert series on Aug. 13. Visit the band’s Facebook page for details.
Island Time has multiple upcoming performances for the summer.
