The crash occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. July 31 in the area of North Bradford Street and East Allen Street.

In the days between the crash and his death, Cardona was in an intensive care unit in critical condition, according to public Facebook posts written at the time by family friends.

Those posts asked the community to pray for his recovery and for the doctors and nurses treating him. They described Cardona as a father whose children were waiting on him, and asked for support for his mother, his girlfriend and the rest of his family.

The Allentown Police Department is investigating the crash, along with the coroner’s office.
