SOUTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center will offer free flu shots to anyone 6 months and older from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at 4350 Broadway, with no insurance or appointment needed, the office said in a Facebook post.
The clinic, which the office calls its fourth annual, is run with Lehigh Valley Health Network and comes about two weeks before the health network’s own free drive-thru clinics in the Lehigh Valley. It also doubles as an open house for the office that investigates county deaths.
Visitors who don’t want a shot can still take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Forensic Center, meet the staff and have hot dogs and light refreshments, the office said. There will also be giveaways.
Neither the office’s post nor the flyer it sent to news outlets says which flu vaccine will be offered. A reader asked under the post whether there was an option for people allergic to eggs, and the post shows no answer. Questions go to the coroner’s office at 610-782-3426.
Last year’s clinic gave 118 flu shots, and 140 people toured the center, according to the office’s post after the event. This year’s announcement puts last year’s turnout at more than 150 visitors.
The office thanked Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest for its partnership on last year’s clinic, and the county also announced the 2023 clinic as a partnership with the health network.
The building has an Allentown mailing address but sits in South Whitehall Township.
Other free shots
Lehigh Valley Health Network lists two free drive-thru clinics in the Lehigh Valley next month, both from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on its flu shot page:
- Saturday, Nov. 7, at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, 3830 Dorney Park Road, Allentown
- Sunday, Nov. 8, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hecktown Oaks, 3780 Hecktown Road
Those clinics ask each person to bring a completed consent form, available on the same page. Shots are for ages 6 months and older and supplies are limited, the health network said in posts about both clinics. The health network will collect donations of food and other items, but they are not required.
