Quick Facts

  • While Seth is featured in the ABC advertisement for season 24, his audition did not air on Monday January 26. It is assumed that he will be in a later episode.

When American Idol returns this evening, Jan. 26, Lehigh Valley viewers will see a familiar local artist on a much bigger stage. Seth Witcher will be featured as a contestant on Season 24 of American Idol, which premieres tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Guitar in hand and golden ticket secured, Seth’s appearance marks a new chapter in a story shaped by persistence, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to making music that helps people feel less alone.

Born on 19th Street in Allentown and raised on rural farmland outside Reading, Witcher first gained local attention for his emotionally honest songwriting and grassroots performance schedule. He learned music production on his own and built his social media presence from the ground up, fueled by faith in himself and supported by his self-starter attitude, attracting audiences across the country.

Influenced by artists like My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco, and Juice WRLD, Seth gravitated toward songwriting that doesn’t shy away from heavy emotions. His mission to make music that resonates with those struggling through tough times has only sharpened since he last spoke with Lehigh Daily in the summer of 2025.

His social media following has surged, his streaming numbers have multiplied, and his presence in larger venues has become more frequent. He continues to split his time between Nashville—where he records—and the East Coast, where he performs, maintaining a rhythm that reflects both ambition and loyalty. Rather than reshaping his craft to fit industry expectations, Seth has chosen to stay true to his sound and let an audience grow around the music he’s always made.

After appearing in a nationally televised American Idol promo and receiving his golden ticket, Seth addressed his supporters directly in an Instagram post:

“Okay, so last night I was on national television. I can’t believe I’m saying this. I’m gonna be on American Idol and I was on the American Idol ad right after Dancing With the Stars.

“None of this would be possible without you watching right now. None of this would be happening if it weren’t for you listening to my music. They’re going to be airing the show on the 26th of January, so tune in to see what happens next. In the meantime, I’m gonna keep dropping my music,” he wrote.

Where once his days were filled with impromptu bar auditions, grocery store sets, and intimate performances at Bethlehem’s Godfrey Daniels—his self-described “home club”—Seth is now preparing for an audience of millions. The scale has changed, but his gratitude has not.

Even as opportunities grow, Seth remains grounded in the work ethic that defines the Lehigh Valley: show up, do the work, and don’t wait to be chosen. It’s the same mindset that once led him to leave engineering at Lehigh University behind, walk into venues with his guitar uninvited, and trust that fulfillment mattered more than certainty.

With an expanding body of original music and a steadily increasing fan base, his participation in the competition positions him for wider recognition and potential opportunities beyond the show. As he continues to release music and perform, Lehigh Valley supporters—and America at large—will now have the added opportunity to follow his progress on national television.

For Seth Witcher, the stage is brighter now, the audience wider, and the stakes higher, but the heart of his story remains unchanged. And wherever it leads next, the Lehigh Valley will be watching, knowing this chapter began long before the cameras ever rolled.
