BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Northampton Community College will host a screening of “The Journey Home,” a documentary about veterans struggling with PTSD, on April 9 at 1 p.m. in the Student Life Zone of the College Center.
The feature-length film explores the experiences of service members from Vietnam to Afghanistan who have suffered from trauma-related illnesses including PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.
Gary Chilutti, owner of Films 4 Good, directed the documentary. Chilutti brings over thirty years of experience in nonprofit management and film production to the project.
His company specializes in creating promotional videos and feature films that help individuals and organizations tell their stories effectively.
Produced by Films 4 Good and sponsored by the Veterans Brotherhood, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the documentary includes interviews with Academy Award winner Jon Voight, Medal of Honor recipient Sammy Davis, and numerous Vietnam veterans who share their experiences of returning home.
The film aims to prevent veteran suicide by raising awareness about mental health challenges faced by former service members.
According to recent statistics, more than 20 veterans commit suicide on a typical day.
The screening will be available in person and via Zoom. The film is provided at no cost to individual veterans, with goodwill donations accepted to defray expenses.
