U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, representing Pennsylvania’s 7th District, was mentioned Tuesday night on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live after delivering opening remarks at a political event headlined by President Donald Trump.

During the segment, host Jimmy Kimmel aired a clip from Mackenzie’s speech praising Trump’s record, including comments in which Mackenzie discussed the president receiving the FIFA Peace Prize. After showing the clip, Kimmel commented on the light audience response.

“That’s what you call a smattering of applause,” Kimmel said.

Kimmel also made a separate remark about Mackenzie during the segment, referencing prior national attention involving the congressman’s dating app profile where Mackenzie was accused of listing his Tinder age as 29 when he was actually 37.

In his remarks at the event, Mackenzie focused on economic issues, criticizing inflation during President Joe Biden’s administration and arguing that federal spending has driven higher prices for consumers.

“There is more work to be done,” Mackenzie said. “We know that’s not enough. We are not gonna rest on our laurels. We know so many people are struggling because of those prices from Joe Biden’s inflation. That does not mean that prices come down when we say that we have tamed inflation. It just means that we have stopped the rate of growth from that massive spending over the past four years.”

He concluded by reiterating that affordability remains a priority.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee criticized Mackenzie’s appearance at the event, arguing that it distracted from addressing local economic concerns. Mackenzie’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the late-night segment.
