Speeding motorcyclist dies after striking vehicle in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Stanley Aviles-Espaillat, 25, of Allentown, died early Sunday morning after his motorcycle collided with a motor vehicle on Tilghman Street, police said.

The crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. in the 300 block of West Tilghman Street.

Officers and paramedics found Aviles-Espaillat lying in the roadway with multiple traumatic injuries. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg, where he was pronounced dead at 8:17 a.m.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio determined the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries due to the motorcycle-motor vehicle collision. The manner of death was ruled accidental.

According to Capt. Stephen J. Milkovits III of the Allentown Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, city camera footage shows the motorcyclist traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck a vehicle making a U-turn.

The motor vehicle operator remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The incident is being investigated by the Allentown Police Traffic Safety Unit, the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
