ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Authorities have two individuals in custody following a shooting Wednesday morning in Allentown that left one woman injured.

According to a joint statement from District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca, officers responded to the 200 block of North 18th Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, police found a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg. She received immediate medical attention. The victim’s injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.

Two schools — William Allen High School and Raub Middle School — were briefly placed on lockdown following the incident.

The police response included School Resource Officers from William Allen High School, the Youth Division, First Platoon, and the Criminal Investigation Division.

Officers identified and detained one person of interest within minutes of the initial 911 call and took a second person of interest into custody within two hours.

Both individuals in custody are adults. Authorities are not seeking additional suspects. Two firearms were recovered during the investigation.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for a residence connected to one of the persons of interest within hours of the incident. At least one bullet hole was found in a car door at the scene.

Allentown Police Detectives Theodore Kiskeravage and Joshua Faust are investigating the case.

The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office’s Chief of Prosecutions, Patricia Fuentes Mulqueen, and Chief Deputy District Attorney Bethany Zampogna will handle the prosecution.

The investigation remains ongoing.
