ALLENTOWN, Pa. — A minor altercation at a local bar was mischaracterized as a stabbing by several news outlets, according to statements from both the establishment’s owner and police officials.

The incident occurred at Tipsy’s Bar & Lounge on Union Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. on April 20, when police responded to reports of a disturbance.

According to the official Allentown Police Department press release issued April 21, officers found “a female victim suffering from a minor laceration to her forearm from a physical altercation.”

Police confirmed the victim received first aid at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. She “is expected to survive her injuries,” the release stated.

Anthony DeLeon, owner of Tipsy’s, issued a statement refuting claims that had appeared in some media reports and on social media.

“There was no stabbing at Tipsy’s,” DeLeon stated. “The official Allentown Police Department press release confirmed the injury was a minor laceration sustained during a physical altercation — not a stabbing.”

DeLeon added that contrary to some reports, only one person was transported to the hospital, and “no weapons were found” at the scene. He also noted that “no charges have been filed.”

According to DeLeon’s statement, the individual “sustained a small laceration while refusing to comply as security worked to break up a physical altercation.”

The police department has submitted the incident to its nuisance abatement process. The investigation remains active, with authorities requesting anyone with information to contact the Allentown Police Department.
