Allentown Burger King employee stabbed in throat by teen co-worker
ALLENTOWN, Pa. — An 18-year-old Burger King employee was charged with attempted homicide after allegedly stabbing a coworker in the throat Saturday evening, police said.
Officers responded to the restaurant at 1958 South Fourth Street at approximately 6:14 p.m. for a report of a stabbing, according to Capt. Christopher Diehl of the Allentown Police Department.
The victim, also an employee, suffered a stab wound to the throat and was transported by Allentown EMS to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest with Class 1 injuries after officers rendered first aid at the scene.
Class 1 injuries indicate life-threatening trauma requiring immediate advanced care. No update on the victim’s condition has been provided.
Brinley Capellan-Lopez, 18, of Allentown, was detained by patrol officers and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault. He was denied bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 7.
Capellan-Lopez was previously charged with obstruction of justice in connection with a May shooting near William Allen High School that injured a bystander.
In that case, he posted $5,000 unsecured bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 8.
Police said there would be no further comment on the ongoing investigation.
