WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — After serving shoppers and residents for nearly three decades, Chick-fil-A will close its location inside the Lehigh Valley Mall early next year.

The restaurant, located on the lower level near one of the mall’s main entrances, has operated at the Whitehall Township shopping center since 1998. In a statement, a Chick-fil-A spokesperson confirmed the closure and thanked customers for their longtime support.

“It has been our pleasure to serve each and every guest at this location for the past 27 years, and we look forward to continuing to serve the surrounding community at our nearby locations,” the spokesperson said.

An exact closing date has not been announced, but the company said the location will shut its doors sometime in early 2026.

The mall location originally opened on the second floor before moving to its current ground-floor spot.

Owner Mike Tenaglia, who has worked for Chick-fil-A since he was 17, is credited as a legend for bringing the Georgia-based chain to the Lehigh Valley when the location first opened.

Chick-fil-A, founded May 23, 1946, in Hapeville, Georgia, will continue serving the area through three other Lehigh Valley locations: 6379 Hamilton Blvd in Allentown, 2610 MacArthur Rd in Whitehall, and 3750 Dryland Way in Easton.

The closure comes as the mall has added several new tenants. Retailers including Sugar Bear, Address for Him, Carter’s, Dry Goods, and MINISO have opened in recent months. Dunkin’ and Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery are also expected to open soon.
