MALVERN, Pa. — Police in Chester County are investigating a burglary reported early Saturday at the home of Philadelphia Eagles running back and Lehigh Valley native Saquon Barkley, according to the Tredyffrin Township Police Department.
Patrol officers were dispatched to a residence in the Malvern section of Tredyffrin Township around 5:10 a.m. Saturday for a report of a burglary in progress, the department said in a press release posted to its Instagram account at 6:11 p.m. Saturday. The individuals had fled by the time officers arrived.
Barkley and his family were not harmed, police said.
Police said the department has not received any other reports of similar activity in the general area. Detectives are investigating a white SUV, pictured in the release, that they said may be involved in the incident.
The Tredyffrin Township Police Department Detective Division is handling the investigation with assistance from the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, according to the release. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Stephanie Bills at sbills@tredyffrin.org.
Barkley, 29, who grew up in Coplay and starred at Whitehall High School before playing at Penn State, purchased a roughly 10,000-square-foot home on the Main Line for $3.9 million in 2025, according to previous reporting by Patch.
The incident follows a string of break-ins at athletes’ homes nationwide, including those of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow, that federal prosecutors tied to a South American theft ring that was charged in 2025. Police have not indicated any connection between those cases and Saturday’s burglary.
The break-in comes 10 days before Barkley and the Eagles are scheduled to report to training camp July 28 in Philadelphia.
