Authorities announced an 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting that left three people hospitalized late Friday, July 4, in Fountain Hill.

Anthony Estrella, a Fountain Hill resident, was arrested Saturday after he opened fire on a group of people during an argument outside a duplex on the 900 block of Delaware Avenue, according to police. The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m.

Officers arrived to find three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A fourth person, a 36-year-old woman, was present but uninjured.

The victims β€” a 19-year-old woman, an 18-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man β€” were taken to a nearby hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Their conditions have not been publicly released.

Investigators said the violence began with a verbal altercation between Estrella and the four individuals on the porch of the home. The male victim reportedly pushed Estrella after the teen began approaching the women β€œin a threatening manner,” police said in a statement. Estrella then pulled a 9mm handgun from his pocket and opened fire.

Detectives recovered several 9mm cartridge casings and bullets at the scene, along with two cellphones and bank cards belonging to Estrella. Police said Estrella had known the victims for several months and had been romantically involved with both female victims. Two of the injured individuals later identified him as the shooter.

Estrella is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm. The investigation remains ongoing.
