ArtsQuest to open artist studios in downtown Allentown
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — ArtsQuest will launch the ArtsQuest Artist Studios at 930 Hamilton St. in March 2026, offering 21 subsidized studio spaces to regional artists and aiming to strengthen Allentown’s creative economy.
The studios, ranging from 200 to 900 square feet, are located near Archer Music Hall and the Moxy Hotel. ArtsQuest leaders said they hope the project will provide affordable, professional workspaces while fostering collaboration and community engagement.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to offer affordably priced studios to artists in the heart of Allentown, which will expand our creative community and contribute to the vibrancy of the neighborhood,” said Lisa Harms, ArtsQuest’s senior director of visual arts and education.
No information on specific pricing was provided.
Selected artists will have 24-hour secure access to the building and opportunities for paid teaching and residencies through ArtsQuest and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. They will also be able to participate in regular exhibitions, including a rotating showcase during Allentown’s monthly Third Thursday events.

The studios include shared lounges, exhibition areas and gathering spaces, as well as restrooms, a spray booth, slop sinks and nearby parking. ArtsQuest said these amenities are intended to make the studios functional and accessible for artists working in a variety of mediums.
Artists accepted into the program will be integrated into ArtsQuest’s broader programming, with chances to teach, participate in residencies and exhibit their work. A selection committee of ArtsQuest staff, Visual Arts Board members, community stakeholders and local artists will review applications, which remain active for one year. A waitlist of pre-reviewed applicants will be maintained as studio spaces become available.
The program is open to artists across disciplines who demonstrate a commitment to their craft, a collaborative spirit and alignment with ArtsQuest’s mission of expanding access to arts, culture and education. ArtsQuest is seeking applicants at all career stages.
