BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh Valley Health Network will open the region’s first dedicated women’s health center this summer at the former Bethlehem Steel Martin Tower site, bringing comprehensive care for women under one roof to serve the growing needs of the community.

The 40,000-square-foot Women’s Health Center will be part of a larger medical complex at Tower Place, the redevelopment project transforming the iconic former steel plant location.

LVHN, part of Jefferson Health, announced plans for two medical facilities totaling 100,000 square feet at the site.

The women’s center will offer services ranging from preventive gynecology and breast health to maternal fetal medicine and pelvic floor therapy.

Additional services include dermatology through a partnership with Advanced Dermatology Associates, a women’s heart and vascular center, obstetrics and midwifery care, and female pelvic medicine.

“We know women care about their health. But they are often also caring for others in their lives, so we want to make access to world-woclass, specialized care as easy and convenient as possible to meet their unique needs and preferences,” said Dr. Amanda Flicker, chief medical executive of LVHN’s Women’s Health Service Line.

The facility will include amenities designed with busy women in mind, including on-site childcare for patients receiving treatment, a café and facial esthetic services.

For Lehigh Valley residents, the center addresses a gap in comprehensive women’s healthcare options. Currently, women seeking specialized care often must visit multiple locations or travel outside the region for certain services.

“Our Women’s Health Center is revolutionizing the way we provide care to the women in our community, and we are proud to be leaders in this space,” Flicker said.

The second facility, the 60,000-square-foot Health Center at Tower Place, will house primary care, imaging services, laboratory medicine, rehabilitation services and specialty care including pulmonary medicine, endocrinology and bariatric medicine.

An ExpressCARE urgent care center and Diabetes Metabolism Center will also operate from the location.

Jim Miller, regional president of Jefferson Health–Lehigh East Region, said the project brings new purpose to a site that once anchored the region’s economy.

The 21-story Martin Tower served as Bethlehem Steel’s corporate headquarters until the company’s decline, and the building was demolished in 2019 after standing empty for years.

“Martin Tower was a longstanding landmark in our community and as the region’s health leader, we are looking forward to bringing new life to the site and providing patients with more services close to where they live, work and play,” Miller said.

The Health Center at Tower Place development represents one of the largest healthcare investments in the Lehigh Valley in recent years. Both LVHN facilities are expected to open this summer, with construction already underway at the former steel plant site.
