HELLERTOWN, Pa. — Four local historical organizations will join forces to present Hellertown-Lower Saucon Heritage Day on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.
The Hellertown Historical Society, Lower Saucon Township Historical Society, Saucon Valley Conservancy, and the Saucon Rail Trail Oversight Commission are hosting the free, family-friendly event across two historic sites connected by the Saucon Rail Trail.
Visitors can explore the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex and the Michael Heller Homestead while enjoying historical demonstrations, tours, and activities throughout the day.

“Heritage Day is one of the highlights of the year for our community,” said Don Mills, president of the Hellertown Historical Society. “It’s a chance for people of all ages to experience our local history firsthand, enjoy great food and entertainment, and connect with the traditions that make this area so special.”
The celebration will feature costumed interpreters leading tours at both historic sites, 18th-century cooking and blacksmithing demonstrations, Civil War re-enactors, and Muskets of the Crown demonstrations.
Children’s activities include a magic show and a petting zoo with live farm animals. The event will also offer local crafters and vendors, food and refreshments, games for all ages, historic presentations, and a 50/50 raffle.
Attendees can easily walk between the two locations using the scenic Saucon Rail Trail.
The Hellertown Historical Society is also planning two additional spring events: an Election Day Bake Sale on Tuesday, May 20, featuring homemade treats on the Miller House’s rear porch, and a Community Yard Sale on the first Saturday in June.
Founded in 1981, the Hellertown Historical Society dedicates itself to preserving its rich history and heritage through tours, student activities, and special events.
The society’s Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex headquarters showcases exhibits exploring local life from colonial times to the present.
