UPPER SAUCON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Promenade Saucon Valley is marking its 20th anniversary with store discounts through Oct. 20 and a ribbon-cutting ceremony and $2,000 gift card giveaway on Oct. 17.
The open-air center opened in October 2006. A trade report that August named 15 of its opening shops and services. Nine are still in the center’s directory: Barnes & Noble, The Fresh Market, L.L.Bean, American Eagle Outfitters, J.Jill, LensCrafters, Old Navy, Starbucks and Yankee Candle.
The other six are gone: Aeropostale, The Children’s Place, Nautica, Lucky Brand Jeans, Wachovia Bank and Sprint. The theater, a Rave Motion Pictures cinema in 2006, is now AMC Center Valley 16. The directory lists American Eagle as closed for a remodel.
“For 20 years, Promenade Saucon Valley has been more than a place to shop and dine,” said Patrick Turner, the center’s general manager. “It has been a gathering place for our community.”
The ribbon-cutting, held with the Southern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, is set for 2 p.m. Oct. 17 in the breezeway next to Brooks Brothers. It falls during the center’s fourth annual Barktoberfest, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day and includes dock diving, pet costume contests, and a K9 officer demonstration. A dock diving preview night starts at 4 p.m. Oct. 16.
Ten guests will each win a $200 gift card to the Promenade business of their choice. Winners must be present. The center’s news release puts the drawing at 2 p.m., while its event pages list 2:15 p.m.
Shoppers who spend $20 or more at a Promenade business during Barktoberfest can get a limited-edition anniversary tote bag while supplies last, or a $20 gift card to the center’s newest tenant, which the event page says will be “announced very soon.”
A Walk Down Memory Lane display will show photos from the center’s construction and 2006 grand opening through today.
The anniversary page lists 20 Days of Deals offers from 14 of the 70 businesses in the center’s directory. They include 20% off full-price items at Yankee Candle and 20% off purchases of $125 or more at Athleta through Oct. 20. Some run only a few days, such as Brooks Brothers’ 20% off one regular-priced item Oct. 17 and 18.
Sephora, Norman’s Hallmark and Wonder opened at the center this year. The release said two more tenant announcements are expected soon but did not name them.
In August, Turner told WFMZ that a pet supply store would open between American Eagle and Claire’s, in the former home of The Hive market.
“They should be open in October, but I can’t announce the name just yet,” Turner told the station.
He also told WFMZ a restaurant is planned for the space Bar Louie left in August 2025. A state liquor license notice posted there in July shows Bar Louie’s license moving to Saucon Valley TRS LLC, a company that registered in Pennsylvania in June.
County property records show Saucon Valley Lifestyle Center LP has owned the center’s 55-acre main parcel since 2005. The parcel is assessed at $61.3 million, and the county estimates annual taxes at about $1.45 million, with $1.12 million going to the Southern Lehigh School District.
A 2022 federal securities filing lists the partnership’s general partner at a Madison, N.J., address used by PGIM Real Estate, part of Prudential Financial. Centennial Advisory Services has managed the center since April 2022. The center dropped “Shops” from its original name, The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, in April 2024.
