BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Musikfest 2025 set new attendance and ticket sales records, drawing an estimated 1,449,000 people to Bethlehem over 10 days and 11 nights of concerts, organizers said Tuesday.
The country’s largest free music festival saw visitors from 49 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and seven countries, according to ArtsQuest, the nonprofit that runs the event.
Sales of 60,800 headliner tickets broke the all-time record by about 6,000 tickets, or 10 percent, since the festival began in 1984. Four Wind Creek Steel Stage acts — Megan Moroney, Riley Green, Darius Rucker, and Jordan Davis — sold out, tying last year’s record. Eight headliner acts topped 5,000 tickets sold, also matching 2024.
“This year’s Musikfest was truly one for the record books,” ArtsQuest President and CEO Kassie Hilgert said. “From the highest number of attendees to the most headliner tickets sold in 42 years, all fueled by amazing weather and incredible community spirit.”
Officials credited clear weather with boosting turnout. The festival spanned more than 50 acres across Bethlehem’s historic Moravian District and SouthSide Arts District, featuring 15 free stages and one ticketed stage.
More than 400 artists performed 552 free shows, with about 30 percent of the acts from the Lehigh Valley.
Mayor J. William Reynolds called Musikfest “a major economic driver for our city,” noting it draws visitors who support local businesses.
ArtsQuest estimates Musikfest generates more than $70 million in annual economic impact for the region. Nearly 40 percent of its programming remains free.
The event also marked the debut of SoberPlatz, an alcohol-free space with meetups and wellness activities, and the return of the large-scale street theater act Saurus. Other highlights included a fiber art–designed official poster by Mallory Zondag, expanded family programming, and comedy performances.
More than 1,050 volunteers contributed to the festival, an increase of about 100 from last year. Organizers said 171 sponsors participated, including 16 new partners.
Transportation services reported strong use, with LANTA buses providing 23,811 rides within the festival footprint and Trans-Bridge Lines shuttling 6,883 guests from satellite parking lots.
Musikfest began in 1984 and will return in August 2026.
