EMMAUS, Pa. — Emmaus Theatre will show “Hotel Transylvania” for free Saturday, three hours before the Emmaus Halloween Parade steps off.
The 4 p.m. screening is the first of three Halloween events the theater, at 19 S. Fourth St., listed in an announcement Monday. A burlesque show follows on Oct. 23, and a “Rocky Horror Picture Show” screening on Oct. 31 honors Tim Curry, who died in August.
Seats for the free movie are reserved online, and the theater’s Halloween calendar includes two more horror screenings.
“Halloween vibes at Emmaus Theatre have it all; community, spooky and some sultry,” said Robert Audibert, the theater’s co-owner and programmer, in the announcement.
Free movie before the parade
Doors for “Hotel Transylvania” open at 3:15 p.m., and the movie ends at 5:30 p.m., according to the theater’s listing, which reserves seats.
Edward Jones, New Tripoli Bank, and the Emmaus Halloween Parade Committee are sponsoring it, the listing says.
The parade starts at 7 p.m. from Keystone and Ridge streets. The committee’s website says roads around the formation area close at 5 p.m., and all other roads close at 6 p.m. The rain date is Sunday at 6:30 p.m.; neither the committee’s website nor the theater’s listing says whether the movie would move with it.
Burlesque on Oct. 23
“Night of the Witch,” a Halloween burlesque show by Mika Romantic and Co., is at 8 p.m. Oct. 23. Doors are at 7 p.m., according to the show’s flyer.
The listing lists general admission at $25 and preferred seating at $35, though its ticket box showed prices starting at $24.59 on Tuesday.
The listing describes performers playing witches from folklore and film, with cabaret vocals. The theater’s announcement bills the show as adults-only; the listing gives no age limit.
‘Rocky Horror’ for Tim Curry
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” screens at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 31 with a live performance by the shadow cast Sweet Translucent Dreams.
The theater dedicated the night to Curry, who played Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the film, in an Aug. 26 Facebook post. The post said the shadow cast has performed at the theater for 12 years.
Tickets are $15, or $17.39 with online fees, according to the “Rocky Horror” listing. Outside props are not allowed; the theater will sell $2 throw bags at the door. An alcohol vendor will be on site, and the show is not BYOB.
The listing warns of strong adult material, labels the show 18 and older and says minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Also on the calendar
Two screenings that were not in the announcement are on the theater’s ticket page: a “Child’s Play” and “Child’s Play 2” double feature at 8 p.m. Friday for $15, BYOB with cans only, and John Carpenter’s “Halloween” at 7 p.m. Oct. 31 for $10, ahead of “Rocky Horror.”
Audibert and Butch Rossetti have owned the theater since 2014 and, according to the announcement, have added a stage for live shows.
