CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Valor Clinic Foundation will hold its first Toss for Veterans in Need cornhole tournament from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at BRIX Brewhouse, 128 Route 715 in Brodheadsville.

Teams of two pay $75 to enter. At the 64-team minimum organizers list, entry fees would total $4,800 before sponsorships, raffles or donations. The foundation has not published a fundraising goal.

The tournament adds to a budget that has more than doubled in two years. The nonprofit reported $2.19 million in revenue for 2025, up from $820,256 in 2023, according to its federal tax filings. Fundraising events netted $105,514 last year, about 5% of revenue, and nearly all the rest came from contributions.

“Toss for Veterans in Need is far more than a cornhole tournament,” Mark Baylis, the foundation’s founder, president and CEO, wrote in a Sept. 1 letter seeking sponsors. “It is the beginning of what we are building into one of Pennsylvania’s premier annual community fundraising events in support of our nation’s veterans.”

The double-elimination bracket will run on 12 lanes at once under American Cornhole Association rules, according to the event page. Play is outdoors, with awnings for weather protection. Better Off Now is scheduled to perform from 1 to 5 p.m. on the stage inside the brewery.

The event page, sponsor letter, and registration form list no sign-up deadline, prizes, or spectator admission price.

Sponsorships run from $250 for a lane, which puts a company’s logo on one of the 12 lanes, to $1,000 for the presenting sponsor. The foundation also offers a $250 hospitality tent sponsorship and a $500 Champion Court sponsorship.

The foundation is also collecting donated items and experiences for a silent auction and raffle, along with canned food and clothing for veterans and military families.

“Every sponsorship represents more than marketing or advertising,” Baylis wrote. “It is an investment in hope.”

Organizers say all proceeds support the foundation’s programs. Its flyer lists programs including holiday meals and a food pantry, peer support and outdoor activities through Veterans Unstoppable, emergency shelter and housing help through Hope for the Homeless, and help with VA benefits claims through Resilient Warrior.

The foundation’s website says no Veterans Unstoppable participants have died by suicide. Neither that page nor the program’s own page says how many veterans have taken part.

Baylis founded the 501(c)(3) in 2012 after more than 26 years on active duty, including in Army Special Forces, according to the foundation. Its 2025 tax return lists no compensation for him or the other officers.
