COOPERSBURG, Pa. — A new festival is making its debut to carry on Pennsylvania Dutch traditions after the long-running Kutztown Folk Festival closed its gates for good in early 2025.
Folk Arts on the Farm debuted Friday, July 4, and will continue Saturday, July 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day at Hausman Fruit Farm in Coopersburg. The free event, produced by Debi Rice, owner of Fun-Nominal Events and Marketing, aims to celebrate the heritage of folk art and rural crafts with a mix of old and new.
“The loss of the Kutztown Folk Festival is sad — it celebrated many traditions and folk crafts not seen anywhere else,” Rice said in a statement to Discover Lehigh Valley. She attended the Kutztown festival as a child and later participated as both a food vendor and a crafter.
“Watching quilters and taking home unique metalsmith yard creations was always a favorite of the festival.”
Folk Arts on the Farm won’t replace the Kutztown event, Rice said, but it features similar crafters, along with live music, craft and farm demonstrations, hayrides, baked goods, food vendors, alcoholic beverages, fresh-roasted corn and seasonal produce. The activities take place across the farm’s fields, pavilions and barn.
Hausman Fruit Farm is a fifth-generation family farm run by Justin and April Hausman and their children. The Hausmans use family recipes and knowledge passed down through generations, even as they invest in new orchard trees and modern equipment.
The farm grows and sells seasonal fruits and vegetables, along with other homemade goods.
More information about Hausman Fruit Farm and the festival is available on the farm’s Facebook page.
